FAQs
What kind of books do you sell?
We curate second-hand and new books. Our shelves bring together Irish and Global authors, with a focus on underrepresented voices — Women, Queer, and BIPOC voices are at the heart of our collection.
Are your books all second-hand?
Most of our titles are pre-loved and carefully graded for quality. Occasionally, we stock new or nearly-new books that fit our curation standards.
How do you grade book condition?
We use the following system:
New: Unread or unopened, straight from publisher.
Very Good: Minimal wear, tight spine, clean pages.
Good: Light signs of use, may have gentle creasing or minor marks.
Acceptable: Noticeable wear but still complete and readable — a book that’s had a full life and still has more stories to share.
Each listing clearly notes the grade.
Where are you based?
We’re an independent Irish bookshop currently operating online only. Our dream is a physical space — a cozy corner for everyone — but for now, you’ll find us right here.
Do you ship outside Ireland?
At this stage, we ship within Ireland only. Once we’re confident with logistics, we’ll expand to the EU.
Can I donate books?
Yes! We love giving books a second life. You can email booksninelives@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off or pick-up (depending on your location).
We particularly welcome works by Women, Queer, BIPOC, and Irish authors.
How are prices decided?
Each book is priced individually, depending on condition, rarity, and market value. Our goal is to keep books accessible while ensuring fair value for their stories.
Why the name Nine Lives Books?
Like a cat with many lives, a good book never really ends — it lives on with every reader who finds it again.
Are you open to collaborations?
Yes! We’re always open to working with local creators, writers, and other indie shops who share our values. Send us a message or email to chat.
